Havas PR UK has created a celebratory campaign for the 200 year anniversary of iconic British bathroom brand, Armitage Shanks.
Celebrate200 marks the historic milestone with a celebration of the past, while looking towards the future and engaging with the next generation of plumbers and installers.
The kick-off piece of activity sees Shoreditch-based electronic music production collaborative, DJ Molecules, create a track generated from recordings of sample sounds in the bathroom and of plumbers going about their job – including a flushing toilet, dripping tap and even the sound of a pipe being cut.
In addition, Armitage Shanks has released a free-to-download smartphone app, Beats200, enabling plumbers and Armitage Shanks fans alike, to mix their own piece of music for fun.
Aspiring DJs can also submit their tracks via the app to be entered into a competition to win a £5,000 prize.
The 10 most popular tracks will also be pressed and published onto a limited edition Beats 200 vinyl album.
The central campaign website, www.Celebrate200.co.ukalso features a run-through of the history of the brand and a H20-levels quiz to inspire users to test their knowledge of all things plumbing, bathrooms and Armitage Shanks.
Originally founded by Thomas Bond in Staffordshire in 1817, Armitage Shanks has produced millions of bathroom items over the last two centuries that have adorned UK bathrooms in homes and in public spaces, including offices, pubs, shops, restaurants, schools, hospitals and sports stadiums.
